With the launch of Fun Food and Fitness, I decided that the
first three posts should follow that order.
In future posts will not always occur in that order, but I thought it
would be fun is the first three did. So
in following with that theme, today’s post is the workout I completed this
morning. The past few days I have been
doing morning workouts, but once school starts back I will move my workouts to
the afternoons, because I am just not a morning person.
Today’s work out started with intervals on the
treadmill. First of all I want to point
out that I am lazy girl. I would much
rather sit in my apartment watching shows on Netflix than go to the gym;
however, I love food and I love clothes, so I work out for the sole purpose of
being able to eat yummy treats while still managing to look somewhat decent in
my clothes. So in order to make myself
workout I take my tablet to the gym, which has wi-fi, and I watch shows on
Netflix while doing my cardio.
My workout set-up.
My gym recently upgraded to some very nice programmable treadmills,
so doing intervals is much easier now than it was before. I’m not really fond of the pre-programmed
intervals so I created my own 40 minute interval, which was perfect since I’m
currently watching 90210 on Netflix and each episode is 43 minutes, so add in a
cool down and the treadmill interval ends at the exact same time as the show. I managed to cover a total of 3.5 miles and
burnt 376 calories with this workout. If
you complete this workout it is very possible that your distance will be
different than mine, because I’m not going to lie towards the end I would slow
down the running interval here and there (it’s been awhile since I have ran and
like I said I’m a lazy girl). Also, the
376 calories is an estimate based on my age and weight, so more than likely you
will have different results for that as well.
After cardio, I go back to my apartment to do ab exercises
and dumbbell weight training, because I’m a lazy girl and want to watch Netflix
on a bigger screen while I do these exercises.
Also, my gym doesn’t have dumbbells (it’s just a small gym in the
leasing office of my complex), and I have a variety of sizes that work great
for me. My go to ab workout is P90X Ab
Ripper X. I will not be posting those
exercises, because I don’t want Beach Body to sue me for violating copyright
laws, but I will tell you that you can easily find the exercises with Google, a
video on YouTube, or on Pinterest under the 300 Ab Challenge.
Above is the dumbbell circuit that I completed today. I used a 10lb dumbbell in each hand for the
squats, lunges, and curls. For the
bridges, I placed both 10lb dumbbells on my abdomen, and I didn’t use any added
weight for the pushups or triceps dips.
I have also posted a modified version of this circuit for more experienced
people (or in my case less tired people), that consists of the same
exercises. The only differences in the
beginner and experienced circuits is that the experienced circuit does all the repetitions
for a particular exercise at once, instead of doing say 15 of one exercise, 10
of another, and then 15 of the first exercise.
If this sounds confusing just check out the photo below and compare it
to the previous photo.
To recap I did 40 minutes on the treadmill,
and about 15 minutes each of ab exercises and dumbbell training. I’m just getting back into the groove of
working out, since I spent most of Christmas break traveling, so today’s
workout was pretty light and quick, but I definitely worked up a sweat. I want to point out that I am not a licensed
physical trainer, so complete these workouts at your own risk, and don’t sue me
if you manage to injure yourself. What did you do to work up a sweat today? Do you enjoy doing circuit style workouts?
